At its heart The Bridgman is a local bar and restaurant, welcoming the community for everyday catch ups with colleagues, friends and family, while offering a standard of service and cuisine fit for a special night out.

Our take on classic gastropub fare is designed to elevate familiar flavours and take them to a new level with a twist of ingredients or unexpected preparation techniques. The menu is driven by the seasons and celebrates local suppliers, so expect seasonal tweaks to our staple favourites and specials reflecting the environment and offering a connection to the world around us.
To create nourishing dishes that leave you feeling good we need the freshest, quality local produce. We partner with suppliers all over New Zealand to get the best, including vegetables from Pukekohe and meat from Hawke’s Bay.
Our bar has something for everyone, from sophisticated cocktails to beer on tap or bottled and a carefully curated wine list.
The fit out of the historic Bridgman building was driven by honouring the history of this landmark, referencing classic gastropub style and creating a space where everyone can feel at welcome and at home - with a touch of luxury & class.
The Bridgman story
The Bridgman building has been a Mt Eden landmark since 1912. Valued at 2,400 pounds, it was built by Craig Bros for Mr J. W. Bridgman, and most likely designed by architect Arthur H. White. While originally a store, with an upstairs suite used by Mr R.E. Bridgman for his dentistry practice, the building has since become a hospitality venue, most recently known as The Dominion.
